Tra fish – popular food in the Netherlands

It has been 10 years since the Queens Products company started importing Vietnamese Tra fish into the Netherlands, and now it  becomes the most popular food  in the European country.

According to the Fis.com website, Vietnamese Tra fish is enabled to strengthen its  position of number 1 when in  September, the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) granted the responsible aquaculture certification for the Tan Hoa farming area of the Vinh Hoan company, the leading Tra fish supplier in the European country.

Last year, the Netherlands imported 5,500 tons of Vietnamese tra fish, up from 4,600 tonnes in 2010, of which the Queens Products imported nearly 3,000 tonnes from Vinh Hoan stock company, one of the top processing and exporting Tra fish companies in Vietnam.

Following Spain, the Netherlands presently is the second biggest tra fish importer from Vientam in  Europe.
ASC was founded by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Dutch Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) in 2010 to manage global standards for aquaculture activities. Tan Hoa is the first Tra fish farming area in Vietnam granted certification from the ASC.
